Emily Robinson Cook

Emily Robinson Cook was born in Atlanta and raised in New York City and Sun Valley, Idaho. This mix of environments fostered a permanent love and appreciation of wildlife and encouraged her to engage her surroundings beyond the confines of the (urban) zoo.
Famous among friends for rehabilitating injured animals at home, Cook consistently seeks out opportunities to break down barriers between man and the natural world. Her photographs reflect this practice: Her early work humanizes her subjects through humor, gesture, and intimacy while diminishing her own presence behind the lens, while her more recent series investigates the complexity of natural form - thus simultaneously distancing and undercutting our pre-determined relationship with wildlife.
Emily's photographs have been shown at Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International events and at Atlanta's Piedmont Driving Club. Her work is included in the permanent collection at the Millennium Gate Museum in Atlanta and in private collections in Georgia, New York, West Palm Beach.
